Due to the work undertaken on extending the capabilities of the Avatar-m systems, we don’t have a dedicated stand at NAB 2010 this year.
We do however have some representatives there, who you will be able to find on stand SL10508 in the Lower South Hall.
So if you’d like to discuss Avatar-m and what it could do for you, then please come along and have a chat with us.

Following on from the succesful demonstration of the Avatar-m systems earlier this year, we will be attending IBC 2009 in Amsterdam.
Here we will be showing our latest technology and the improvements we’ve made since our last public demonstration.
If you have an interest in our technology, or wish to see what Avatar-m can do for your archives and storage systems then come along and pay us a visit at stand A 08e in Hall 7 (Map availailable here).

For the past few weeks now we have been trialling the ASTOR systems in the BBC’s R&D facilities in Surrey, testing the system against our array of network and storage analysis tools.
With the kit in situ at Kingswood Warren for the summer, it’ll be used to explore the potential use of this sort of technology in the BBC’s future deep digital archive. We’ll be able to expose it to our latest high definition workflows, and stress test it across simulated networks.
By the time the kit is boxed up ad hits the road for Amsterdam and IBC, the BBC will have put it through it’s paces and we’ll be a good deal further down the road to productisation.

It’s been a fantastic week at NAB in Las Vegas. Not only did we get a brilliant range of visitors to our stand, but pretty much everyone took the time to find out all about our project. Though the show was down oin visitor numbers, those who were there, were there to do business. We’ve come away with lot’s to catch up on in terms of development of the software and exploring the exploitation and productisation phase of the project, and there’s a real urgency behind delivering systems and services for user to put into action.
Of course, NAB was only really a warm up show for us! It’s been our intention to show off the full finished research project at IBC for some years now, so stay tuned for updates on that show. We’re looking into potential stand partners there, and defining what our presence should be exactly, but do stay in touch and we’ll see you in September!
P.S. Email is now working well so if you have emailed us via the site earlier, and not had a response, do please try again.

We’re rolling into the final day of what has been a tremendously exciting and worthwhile NAB09 for us. For the next five hours you can still come along to SU7235 and see the demonstration of our groundbreaking archive managment software, and discuss with the developers and researchers themselves how we might potentially cooperate in the future. If you think this might be of use to you, please do come along today- we do have colleagues based in the US, but we’ll not be bringing these demonstrations over again, and unless you’ll be at IBC 09 in september, this really could be the last chance to see.

We’ve just updated out White Papers section with two additional papers from the last 12 months:
Sustainable Archiving and Storage Management of Audiovisual Digital Assets is from IBC last year and focuses on specifying and governing federated storage services for archive.
A Service Oriented Approach to Online Digital Audiovisual Archives was presented at the NEM summit in St. Malo last year and focusses on how to use SOA for meeting the business needs of archives.

Welcome to the brand new Avatar-M website, launched to coincide with our appearance at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, USA. In this website we hope to give you a good overview of the business needs we are addressing, and the technologies we’ve developed to meet the challenges. There are White Papers and other guides to download, and we’ll soon have a copy of our promotional video available too.
At NAB the project will be displaying our first generation demonstration systems on stand SU7325. In this first iteration of the demonstrator you’ll be able to see how our systems can ingest and manage large volume data storage over disparate platforms, and we hope to demonstrate integration with broadcast standard editing equipment and workflows.
If you’re interested in exploring the future of large scale A/V archival we’d be delighted to discuss how we can cooperate in the future.
